Stratasys Nylon 12 Carbon Fiber contains 35% chopped carbon fibres with polyamide 12. Compatible with Fortus production systems, material properties include a high strength-to-weight ratio as well as tensile strength up to scratch with that of other high-performance FDM materials.
Of all FDM materials, Nylon 12CF has the highest specific modulus, and given the material’s unique directional orientation of carbon fibres it contains anisotropic properties allowing for it to be used in a similar manner as that of a composite laminate. This ultimately gives the parts produced using this FDM material a higher uniaxial stiffness compared to injection moulded parts, opening the limits of unique design freedoms that were not accessible when using either traditional thermoplastic or additive manufacturing.

FDM Nylon 12CF allows for the production of parts with a layer thickness of 0.010in/0.254mm. The material is compatible for use on the Stratasys Fortus 450mc and 380mc Carbon Fiber 3D printers and can be used alongside SR-110 soluble support.
