Direct Digital Manufacturing provides some innovative applications for 3D printing. Here we look at Blow Moulding and Silicone Moulding.

Blow Moulding

For short runs, 3D printing with Stratasys polyjet technology is perfect for creating moulds. It means that time and cost is removed at the mould-making stage. Check out this video to find out how this works:

Silicone Moulding

Traditionally, mould patterns must be machined -; a process that can take weeks. Furthermore this provides limited geometric complexity for the patterns. 3D printing enables complex patterns to be created in hours. This video shows how time and cost can be saved in silicone moulding:
