New Era in Digital Dentistry with 3D Prototypes Dawns at Dentistry Show

3D printing systems specialist OPS announced it will showcase the Objet Eden260V 3D Printer and 3D-printed dental models at this year’s Dentistry Show.

Visitors to the OPS stand M36 will see how 3D printing can enable a complete digital dentistry workflow and open the way to faster turnaround, enhanced services and improved outcomes. The event takes place on March 2-3, 2012 at Birmingham’s NEC; OPS stand M36.

Objet Eden 260VThe Objet Eden260V 3D Printer produces extremely accurate stone models, orthodontic appliances, delivery and positioning trays, veneer try-ins, full and partial denture try-ins, surgical guides, clear aligners and retainers. 3D printing is the ideal technology and method for dental labs to digitize their workflow as it enables accurate, precise dental models with significant cost and time savings.

The Objet Eden260V 3D Printer was recently recognized as a 2011 “Readers’ Choice” by subscribers to Dental Lab Products magazine. It was the only Rapid Prototyping platform honored in the magazine’s annual “Best of the Best Products” list.

The Objet Eden260V 3D Printer uses Objet VeroDent, a special dental material, as well as the recently released Objet Bio-Compatible material (MED610). This clear transparent bio-compatible material is perfect for checking the fit of surgical guides and delivery trays in the mouth and for monitoring the soft gum tissue under the guide during dental implant and other medical procedures.

With the Objet 3D Printer, high-quality rapid dental prototypes can be achieved at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods. Furthermore, the Objet Eden260V 3D Printer provides 72 hours of unattended continuous printing.

“With a 3D printer doing the detail work, dental labs can eliminate the bottleneck of manual modelling,” explained Andrew Fulton, managing director of OPS. “A 3D printing-based digital workflow allows dental businesses to provide faster service, expand their offering and stay ahead of the competition.”

Avi Cohen, head of medical solutions at Objet, added: “Digital dentistry is rapidly becoming the standard procedure for dental laboratories who want to significantly improve their dentistry workflow. Objet 3D printers enable dental labs to make the most of the digital dentistry era.”
