Using Stratasys DentaJet technology, 21D produces asymmetric anatomical guides customised to the individual patient, enabling implant placement to an accuracy of less than 100 microns — finer than the width of a human hair. A Chance Encounter That Became a Lasting Partnership
21D’s relationship with Stratasys began unexpectedly. While visiting Italy to explore the acquisition of an implant company, Vijay noticed a Stratasys machine in the corner of the room — and the printer, not the acquisition, became the real story of the trip. He ordered one on the spot. SYS UK’s Customer Installation and Support (CIS) team delivered and installed it, and 21D now runs four machines across its workflow.
Simplicity and Scale on the Lab Floor
For Vijay, the appeal goes beyond the accuracy. He compares the experience to using an inkjet printer: load the cartridges, send the design, press start. There’s no noisy compressor and no complex setup — a detail his bioengineers particularly value on a busy lab floor. With access to hundreds of thousands of colour combinations, the system supports everything from surgical guides to printed veneers used for trials, temporaries and dentures, all from the same build plate. At full capacity, 21D can produce 40 TrueDent veneers in eight hours — throughput Vijay describes as “mind-blowingly good.”
